This project utilizes used utility-scale panels, microinverters, and used batteries, that would otherwise be sent off for energy intensive recycling and scrapping if they made it there at all, to create a functioning solar and storage system on a 10-acre farm (see Figure 1) in an unincorporated exurban town. The electricity generated by these panels will be maximized by aligning farm electricity end uses with solar production. These uses can include well water pumping, desalination, charging electric farm vehicles, charging shop tools batteries, power shop tools, powering the main house, and many more electrical farm applications.
